Indigenous navigation in the Caribbean Basin: a historical, ethnoarchaeological and experimental approach to the Caribbean-Guyanese kanawa

چکیده
The early human occupation of the Antilles was based on manufacture and use expanded extended dugout canoes named kanawa. same boat type is also associated with Carib linguistic family groups precolonial expansion along coasts from Brazil to Venezuela. This paper describes this its construction process in a comparative approach archaeological ethnohistorical data related Antillean archipelago an ethnoarchaeological study contemporary kanawa by Kali’na Amerindians Guiana (French Guiana/Suriname). Lastly, experimental maritime archaeology programme carried out over several years allows us discuss nature navigation permitted boat.
